History

Based on the Decree of the Coordinator of Private Universities Region V, No. 032 /SK/Kpt/ VII /1979, dated July 17, 1979, stands as the Faculty of Literature for English Department. Furthermore, with the publication of the Minister of Education and Culture, No: 033/0/1981 dated January 22, 1981, the Faculty changed into the Faculty of Education and Teachers Training (FETT) which has two departments, namely Indonesian Education and English Education Bachelor’s Program. In 1984, the Minister of Education and Culture published a decree No: 0395/0/1984 defined in Jakarta on August 29, 1984, Faculty of Education and Teachers Training was given the right to operate education with Bachelor Degree (S1).

Before the implementation of the accreditation of BAN PT, status of Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program is recognized and English Education Study Program is registered. Current status of English Education Study Program is accredited B based on the decree of National Accreditation Board of Higher Education No. 017 / BAN-PT / Ak-IX / S1 / X / 2005. Furthermore, the status of the Indonesian Languag and Literature Study Program is accredited with an A based on the decree of the National Accreditation Board of Higher Education, Department of Education Republic of Indonesia on December 21, 2004 No. 07 027 / Ak-VIII-S1-053 / UTH PMS / XII / 2004. Based on the decre for those study programs, Faculty of  Education and Teachers Training, Tidar University has right to establish education, teaching, and evaluation independently so Tidar University does not need to attend the state exam or the like.

Faculty of Education and Teachers Training of Tidar University of Magelang established the continuance of higher education program of bachelor degree so that the graduates have the knowledge, skills and academic ability in the field of education.The graduates of the Bachelor Degree of Faculty of Education and Teachers Training in Tidar University of Magelang are being prepared to become experts in the field of organizing and educational research in Indonesia. The institutional efforts to realize those things and to maintain the integrity is to plan, implement, and evaluate the implementation of the Tri Dharma in University in Faculty of Education and Teachers Training namely education and teaching, research and community service.
