Magelang – Humas berperan penting dalam sebuah lembaga/perusahaan sebagai penghubung antara lembaga/perusahaan dan publik. Humas bertanggung jawab menjaga citra positif lembaga. Salah satu tugas penting humas adalah membuat press release. Persoalannya, menurut Shinta Ardhany, banyak humas tidak mampu membuat press release efektif.

Agar humas mampu membuat press release efektif, Jawa Pos Radar Kedu bekerja sama dengan Bank Magelang mengadakan workshop bertema “Workshop Media Relations dan Penulisan Press Release” di Bank Magelang (Senin, 30/01/2017,). Workshop yang berlangsung pukul 08.30—13.30 WIB itu dihadiri peserta dari berbagai perusahaan dan lembaga, seperti SMP Muhammadiyah, Universitas Tidar, dan Armada Group.

Workshop tersebut menghadirkan tiga pemateri, yaitu Shinta Ardhany, Mukhtar Lutfi, dan Sumali Ibnu Chamid. Shinta Ardhany merupakan praktisi media. Mukhtar Lutfi dan Sumali Ibnu Chamid merupakan wartawan Jawa Pos Radar Kedu.

Shinta Ardhany, pemateri pertama, menekankan bahwa humas perlu menjaga hubungan baik dengan media dan masyarakat. Salah satu caranya dengan mengadakan kegiatan rutin yang melibatkan keduanya. Dengan demikian, hubungan antara lembaga/perusahaan dan publik akan terjaga dengan baik.

“Humas dapat mengadakan kegiatan rutin dengan media dan masyarakat,” ujar Shinta.

Pemateri kedua, Mukhtar Lutfi, menjelaskan teknik penulisan berita efektif. Menurutnya, banyak humas tidak mampu menulis berita dengan baik tentang lembaga/perusahaan mereka karena tidak memerhatikan unsur 5 W + 1 H, yaitu what, where, when, who, why dan how.

“Banyak press release ditulis dengan bahasa yang tidak tepat. Kadang-kadang tidak memenuhi 5 W + 1 H,” ujar Mukhtar.

Selain teknik penulisan, unsur penting lain dalam press release adalah foto. Oleh karena itu, pemateri ketiga, Sumali Ibnu Chamid, memberi materi tentang foto jurnalistik. Menurut Sumali, foto dalam press release harus memiliki nilai berita. Oleh karena itu, Humas tidak boleh asal mencantumkan foto dalam press release mereka.

“Foto yang baik punya nilai berita,” ujar Sumali.

Ia melanjutkan, sebagaimana dalam penulisan berita, sebuah foto jurnalistik juga harus mengandung unsur 5 W + 1 H. Dengan demikian, pembaca berita dapat memperoleh banyak informasi dari foto yang tercantumkan dalam press release.

Workshop pun diakhiri dengan sesi foto bersama yang dilanjutkan dengan ramah tamah. Usai ramah tamah, peserta pun meninggalkan ruang workshop termasuk perwakilan FKIP Untidar, Irsyadi Shalima, M.A. (IS)

Magelang- Public Affairs take an important role in institutions/companies as a link between institutions/companies and public. Public Affairs are responsible to keep a positive image of the institution. One important task of public affairs is to create press release. However, Shinta says that many public affairs cannot make an effective press release.

Jawa Pos Radar Kedu and Bank Magelang held an workshop “Workshop Media Relations and Press Release Writing” in  Bank Magelang (Monday, 30/1/2017) at 08.30-1.30 p.m.. The purpose of the workshop is to help the public affairs in making the effective press release. The participants of the workshop are from some companies and institutions, such as SMP Muhammadiyah, Tidar University, and Armada Group.

Moreover, the speakers of the workshop are Shinta Ardhany, Mukhtar Lutfi, and Sumali Ibnu Chamid. Shinta Ardhany is a media practitioner. Mukhtar Lutfi and Sumali Ibnu Chamid are the reporters of Jawa Pos Radar Kedu.

Shinta Ardhany, the first speaker, contends that public affairs need to maintain a good relationship between media and society. One of the ways is by conducting routine activities that involve media and society. Therefore, there will be a good relationship between the companies/institutions and public.

“Public Affairs can conduct routine events with the media and society,” Shinta stated.

The second speaker, Mukhtar Lutfi, explains about the effective news writing. He says that many public affairs cannot write the good news about their institutions/companies because they do not pay attention to 5W + 1H aspects (what, where, when, who, why and how).

“Many press releases are written in inappropriate language in which they do not include 5W+1H,” Mukhtar asserted.

Besides the writing techniques, another important aspect of press release is photography. The third speaker, Sumali Ibnu Chamid, gives the material about journalistic photography. He notes that press release photography must have news values. Furthermore, Public Affairs need to include photos in their press release.

“Good photos have news values” Sumali said.

He adds that a journalistic photo must cover 5W + 1H in writing the news. Therefore, the readers get information by looking at the press release photos.

The last part of workshop is photo session and courteous gathering. After the gathering, the participants included Irsyadi Shalima (the representative of Faculty of Education and Teacher’s Training-Untidar) leave the workshop room. (CA)
