Selasa (12/9) suara gemuruh terdengar dari Auditorium Universitas Tidar. Pagi itu, Himpunan Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia (Himpro PBSI) menggelar Seminar Sastra bertema “Membangun Sikap Toleransi Melalui Pengajaran Sastra”. Acara tersebut dihadiri oleh sastrawan nasional Sosiawan Leak dan pengajar sastra andal Maria Utami sebagai narasumber.

Setyo Herbi, Ketua Panitia, mengatakan acara tersebut merupakan agenda rutin Himpro PBSI. Gelaran seminar sastra kali ini memiliki tema tersebut mengingat Negara Indonesia saat ini sedang dihadapkan pada permasalahan perihal toleransi, khususnya dalam hal agama.

Dengan kasih sayang kita simpan bedil dan kelewang, kutipan puisi Rendra tersebut menggambarkan toleransi yang sangat tinggi. Sikap lembut dan kasih sayang merupakan fondasi utama toleransi,” kata Sosiawan Leak saat membuka materi. Selanjutnya, sastrawan asal Solo tersebut menjelaskan sikap toleransi dapat dibangun dengan kebebasan berekspresi dan tidak memaksakan kehendak.

Acara yang dihadiri oleh mahasiswa dari Untidar, Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang, dan ISI Yogyakarta ini semakin semarak setelah narasumber kedua M.A. Utami Eko Putranti memberikan penjelasan pengajaran sastra yang menarik melalui penggunaan majas dengan metode unduh kata. Guru Bahasa Indonesia berprestasi asal Kabupaten Semarang tersebut menekankan bahwa melalui sastra seorang guru dapat mengajarkan toleransi kepada peseta didiknya.

Dengan Sastra, Kita Bangun Toleransi

Sejak acara dibuka oleh Prof. Dr. Sukarno, M.Si, Dekan FKIP, kemeriahan acara memang sudah sangat terasa. Apalagi, bengkel seni juga menampilkan teater yang sangat memukau ditambah puisi Makna Cinta yang dideklamasikan dengan penuh penghayatan oleh Sosiawan Leak. Sastrawan Bambang Eka dan Maria Utami juga turut membacakan puisi pada akhir acara tersebut.

Leak mengatakan toleransi perlu dibangun dengan fakta artistik dan imajinatif dalam suatu karya sastra agar menarik untuk dinikmati. Beliau juga menambahkan beberapa karya sastra sudah dibangun untuk mengajarkan toleransi, seperti novel Ayah karya Andrea Hirata, Gajah Mada: Madakaripura Hamukri Moksa karya Langit Kresnadi Hariadi, dan Puisi TIga Perempuan Membawa Tuhan karya Maman S. Mahayana.

Beberapa mahasiswa mengaku seminar tersebut sangat menyenangkan. “Saya mendapatkan banyak sekali informasi tentang manfaat belajar sastra sehingga makin tertarik untuk membaca karya sastra,” kata Widya Mega Anggara, Mahasiswa PBSI Semester 1. Koordinator PBSI, Rangga Asmara, M.Pd., berharap Himaprodi selalu konsisten untuk mengadakan acara yang bermanfaat menguatkan profil lulusan, seperti kajian satra semacam ini. WJ

 Tuesday (12/9), a roar sounded from the Auditorium of Tidar University. That morning, the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program (Himpro PBSI) held a Literary Seminar entitled “Building Tolerance Through Literary Teaching”. The event was attended by national writer, Sosiawan Leak and literary instructor, Maria Utami as keynote speakers.

Setyo Herbi, Chairman of the Committee, said the event was a routine agenda of Himpro PBSI. This seminar of literature has its theme since Indonesia is currently faced with the problem of tolerance, especially in the case of religion.

“With our compassionate shade of the rifle and kelewang, the quotation of Rendra’s poem represents a very high tolerance. Gentle attitude and affection is the main foundation of tolerance, “said Sosiawan Leak when opening the material. Furthermore, the writer from Solo explained that tolerance can be built with freedom of expression and not impose the will.

The event attended by students from Untidar, University of Muhammadiyah Malang, and ISI Yogyakarta was more vibrant after the second speaker, M.A. Utami Eko Putranti, provides an interesting explanation of the teaching of literature through the use of figure of speech by the method of downloading words. She said that through a teacher’s literature, the teacher can teach tolerance to the students.

WE BUILD TOLERANCE THROUGH LITERATURE

Since the event was opened by Prof. Dr. Sukarno, M.Si, Dean of FETT, the festivity of the event was already very felt. Moreover, the art workshop also features a stunning theater and the poetry of the Meaning of Love which was declared with full appreciation by Sosiawan Leak. Bambang Eka and Maria Utami also read poetry at the end of the event.

Leak says tolerance needs to be built with artistic and imaginative facts in a literary work to be interesting to enjoy. He also added that several literary works have been built to teach tolerance, such as the novel by Andrea Hirata, Gajah Mada: Madakaripura Hamukri Moksa by Langit Kresnadi Hariadi, and Tiga Perempuan Membawa Tuhan Poem by Maman S. Mahayana.

Some students admitted the seminar was very enjoyable. “I get a lot of information about the benefits of literary learning so that more interested to read literary works,” said Widya Mega Anggara, PBSI Students Semester 1. PBSI Coordinator, Rangga Asmara, M.Pd., hopes Himaprodi always consistent to hold a useful event to strengthen profile of graduates, such as this kind of literature study. (ER)
